For cable/machine connection you have the option of using shift + right clicking with the Configurator on the cable segment to break the connection. When returning both Mekanism power sections have stopped working (the generator -> buffer ultimate cable and the buffer -> machines elite cable). I did find however that when I restarted the server (to get the log files), the cables had fixed themselves after the restart, so this may be a workaround for users experiencing this issue.
