Until fairly recently tastings were generally free and informal. Stonehurst Cedar Creek - The tasting (also free) was a bit different here, you could just ask to try any you wanted. If you love a good sunset, this is probably a serious contender for best sunset due to the height you get up on the clifftops. We tried 10 wines (the official tasting is usually a couple less, but if they have extra bottles open theyll bring them out too) and the whole experience is fantastic. You do need to make an appointment because its not a regularly visited cellar door which is always open. It is a much prettier route and only adds on an additional 20 minutes to your journey. A perfect Instagram picture would be captured in front of the Chardonnay vines, in order to guarantee a shot of one of the prettiest skylines in the Hunter Valley. However, midweek, sunrise, or off season you can get sections of Newcastle Baths all to yourself. The scenery is stunning and the food and wine are fantastic. Its a very small winery, just under a 15 minute very scenic drive from Broke. The name tells you exactly what to expect herea giant flat rock! It's a luxe location with classic country vibes. This truly is one of my favourite engagement photoshoot locations for a summery sunset shoot. You dont need a 4wd, but I usually would recommend my clients without a 4wd come with me, as I have seen people get in trouble, particularly when it is or has been raining. So now you know. How to get here? Worth it? The rustic hut is a lovely piece of Hunter Valley history. Immerse yourself in the rich colonial heritage and discover stunning sandstone gorges, razorback ridges, and towering passes. The onsite restaurant gets rave reviews. Tiny little Broke is a 20 minute drive away and is nestled at the foot of the mountains in Yengo National Park. The payoff though, well, that in itself makes it worthwhile for me! With a bit of an oldschool vibe about the property, you get the best of that feeling, crossed with the absolute beauty of the surrounding fields. Hunter Valley Zoo are a hands-on zoo, that allows you to get your wild ones closer to nature to connect and strive to love wildlife and commit to saving species in the wild. The walk to the middle falls, which would be worth seeing alone is just five minutes, but we recommend carrying on another five to see the lower falls as well, which are even more beautiful. Frasers Beach sits just off your shoulder, and you can watch the surfers rolling in through the waves, yet they cant see you. An absolute stunner if you are looking for a sunrise engagement photoshoot location. There is nothing but rolling dunes for as far as the eye can see (honestly, I think they go for like 20km). Having TWO photographers at your wedding! Huge open roads with no cars on them to play on, really epic factories in the background, chain link metal fences, this might just have your name written all over it. It wont be long before you are back in the Urban jungle, so enjoy this while you can! Its definitely a treat yourself experience at $110 for a five course menu, but we thought as a special experience it was well worth it.
